God reigns…above it ALL!

With not the best attitude, I stood “worshiping” in church recently. A few external issues were heavy on my mind but really, I just wasn’t crazy about the song we were singing. I did what I know to do though: I rerouted my thoughts, put the heaviness aside and asked the Lord to help me focus on the words of the song.

And…Shazam! God was faithful to my request.

On the screen the phrase “you reign above it all” scrolled past. I thought ‘Lord, you really do: You reign above IT ALL! All of it! All the disappointment. All the downheartedness. All the melancholy. And, all the c__p (sorry to use that word…it’s what I wrote in my notes though).

So, my take-aways?

Run to Jesus when you need his help during hard times. He’s literally standing right there waiting to help (just like he did for me).

Trust the sovereignty of God. Nothing in your life has caught him off guard. See what he’s trying to teach you.

Acknowledge where your attitude may be steering you wrong. Confess it for the sin it is and make a u-turn.

Develop, as they say “an attitude of gratitude.” Many hurts, worries, stressors, and annoyances can be driven away when we count our blessings. Actually, one of the other songs sung that Sunday morning exclaimed “I see the evidence of your goodness all over my life.” Identify that goodness and it will lighten the load in your heart.

Thanks for listening readers. See you next time.

PS - And don’t let “the worship” or anyone on the worship team bug you. Trample that thought the moment it enters your mind understanding the last thing our enemy wants you to do is worship the God he hates.
